With xylophage fungi we meet again with a silent enemy that attacks our wood, but as we have seen previously in termites and woodworm, we have a solution for it.
Xylophage fungi are organisms that rot and germinate inside wood. They attack our furniture and / or structures through penetration and by releasing enzymes that are responsible for degrading the components that make up the wood, causing serious damage and sometimes almost total destruction. < / p>
There are 3 types of rots that we can find:
Soft rot:
This rot is caused by the decomposition of cellulose and hemicelluloses in the woods. This fungus boasts that it does not need more than 20% or less moisture to survive, with extremely fast capacity with very damaging rot. This is one of the most damaging to wood structures, since in less than 6 months it is capable of deteriorating the resistance of wood by up to 50%.
White rot:
This type of rot is mainly caused by xylophagous fungi such as ascomycetes and aeuteromycetes. This rot usually occurs in conditions of high humidity, in the lower part of the trees in direct contact with the ground.
Gray rot:
This type of rot is mainly caused by xylophagous fungi such as ascomycetes and aeuteromycetes. This rot usually occurs in conditions of high humidity, in the lower part of the trees in direct contact with the ground.
